Our second official Judge announcement comes in the form of award-winning screenwriter and director, Jessie Kirby. Jessie is the Director of Brickworks Media, and has previously written and directed 3 feature films (Insatiable, Nadir, The Hidden). In 2019 she will direct feature film, Becoming, with The Horror Lab and Brickworks Media.
Jessie’s screenwriting accolades are plentiful – on 10th October she was announced as a Winner of the Oaxaca International Film Festival’s Global Script Challenge, and she has won awards as both writer and director for previous projects, including short film, For Summer (2018).
Jessie began her career in the theatre, writing for the Boomerang Theatre Company in Cork, Ireland. She has toured numerous theatre productions as writer and director, including BRB, which premiered at the 10th International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival, and was nominated for an Irish Arts Award.
Jessie’s passion is horror films. Her favourites are Don’t Look Now, Them and Near Dark. She is also a huge fan of American Horror Story (particularly Asylum).
